SBM Offshore and Ocean-Power have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the development of a floating power generation hub with CO2 capture and storage. This collaboration will focus on the Norwegian and United Kingdom Continental Shelves, assessing the technical and commercial viability of the concept.
The hub will utilize Ocean-Power’s “Blue Power Hub” technology, which combines offshore gas turbines with carbon capture and storage to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. It aims to power offshore assets via submarine cables and support continental shelf electrification with minimal grid impact, while balancing wind power capacity.
