A long track record in Brazil

Since the provision of the first CALM system for the Brazilian market in 1970, SBM Offshore has developed an impressive track record of successful projects ranging from loading & offloading terminals, turret mooring systems to complete FPSO units. Over the last 16 years SBM Offshore has delivered a total of 11 FPSOs for offshore Brazil.  The latest, FPSO Cidade de Paraty, was delivered in 2013 with first oil successfully achieved in June.

SBM’s Brazilian production units are consistently at the absolute forefront of global floating production technology.  SBM is proud to report an unmatched uptime performance record across the Brazilian fleet with an uptime record of over 99%. The SBM FPSO fleet in Brazil is managed from four shore bases in Macaé, Vitória, Rio and Santos.

Eduardo Chamusca, Business Development Director in Rio, says “Through the active development of several Brazilian suppliers, we can say that SBM feels as an integral part of Brazilian engineering. Proof of this are the successful partnerships with Brazilian companies such as EBSE, Enaval, Metasa, Brafer and many others, which collaborated to the substantial growth these companies incurred in recent years.”

The Rio de Janeiro office opened  in 2008 to meet the ever-changing demands of the local market. Centers of expertise were created for logistics services, supply chain management, regulatory compliance and construction management & supervision. Working closely with the local supplier market, the Rio office leads the development and implementation of innovative local content strategies whereby competitive and sustainable solutions are developed. Partnerships between recognized technology providers and local companies are actively promoted.

Recognizing Brazil as a major market, SBM Offshore is dedicated and committed to further expand the existing relationships with clients, suppliers, service providers, institutions and authorities.
