Leading in offshore operations

During 2011 SBM Offshore has achieved a number of significant milestones – strengthening its position as a global leader in offshore operations. This year, our managed fleet achieved throughput volumes of more than 1 million barrels a day with average uptime of 99.1%.

First and best for Lease & Operate services

We pioneered the Lease & Operate business model when we designed, built and installed the first leased FPSO vessel at Cadlao field, offshore from the Philippines, in 1981. Today, we have developed and refined this business model – with 14 leased units in operations, a further five in construction or transit and four units owned by clients but operated by SBM Offshore. We employ more than 1800 people to operate what is now the world’s largest fleet of leased facilities.

We have a strong portfolio of Lease & Operate contracts, with many running over the long-term through extension and relocations, giving our business both great visibility and stability.

2011 milestones

From the start of 2011, our fleet has processed an average of 1 million bopd for clients (with 75% produced and 25% stored and offloaded). This means we now manage 4% of total global offshore oil production, roughly equivalent to the total offshore UK production.

Continuous performance improvement

A highly developed knowledge-sharing network, leveraging 200 years’ cumulative offshore experience, is central to the way we work. It creates a direct link between our operations teams and the engineers who design and build the ‘fit for purpose’ SBM Offshore facilities that deliver continuous improvements in safety, reliability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness for clients.

This approach has enabled us to deliver the most technologically advanced units in our industry and to maintain an average fleet uptime of 99.1%.

Focused on HSSE

Focusing on Health, Safety, Security and the Environment also supports us in our quest for continuous improvement, by minimizing risks and consequently reportable incidents. We have worked very hard to improve safety performance through a number of initiatives, including our STOP (Safety Training Observation Program) and TASK (Total Application of Safety Knowledge (TASK) initiatives.

Looking forward

Our strategic goals will remain consistent: to achieve further improvements in performance, reliability and HSSE in order to strengthen our leadership position in the Lease & Operate market. We will continue to focus on operating high end, complex units and to grow our fleet around the world.
